Christmas at Gaylord Palms 2018

Oh, fuuuuuuudge – it is cold in here!

Christmas at the Gaylord Palms is kicking off the holiday season, with an all-new ICE! theme featuring the holiday classic, “A Christmas Story.”

Are you even a real American if you haven’t watched the movie at least two times during the 24-hour marathon on TBS each year?

ICE! is an indoor wonderland kept at a chilly 9 degrees, featuring colorful life-sized ice sculptures and five two-story slides. 40 artisans from Harbin, China were tasked with bringing the beloved Christmas movie to life, out of two million pounds of ice! There is also a separate area featuring a majestic Nativity scene in crystal-clear ice, which is part of the experience each year.

This year’s self-guided walkthrough  included everything from the iconic moment Flick got his tongue stuck on the flagpole, to Aunt Clara’s “pink nightmare” bunny suit, to a pack of dogs devouring the Christmas turkey while an agitated Mr. Parker screams out the door.

Like I mentioned before, it is 9 degrees in the attraction, and I highly recommend guests bring their own warm gloves, as the parkas you are provided with do not have pockets. My gloves were not as great as I hoped, and I was in a lot of pain toward the end of the experience because my frozen hands hurt so much. You’ve been warned.

This was the best ICE! theme any Gaylord Palms property has ever owned the rights to, and every property should be jealous of the Orlando one. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Parking is a little bit pricy, so if you’re not being dropped off, grab a small bite to eat at one of the hotel restaurants, and have your parking validated.

Stay warm!
