Fri(yay) Lovin’ #2

Happy Friday the 13th!

This week has been wonderful and my heart can’t contain itself, but I am so ready for the weekend to celebrate my 25th birthday at Hammock Beach resort! The weather forecast looks promising so keep your eyes peeled for pictures of me lounging around the beach with a piña colada in hand.

My coworkers went a little bit crazy decorating for my birthday. I love them.

The Invictus Games wrapped up at the ESPN Wide World of Sports last night and it was a wonderful evening spent honoring those who participated in the games as well as the family members who traveled with them.

The star-studded closing ceremony included appearances by Prince Harry (who I’m pretty sure saw my coworker and I dancing to Apple Bottom Jeans, so he will definitely never marry me), John Cena, Wilmer Valderrama (and I told him, “I’ve been staring at you for about four hours.” Super nice guy.), Dr. Jill Biden, Flo Rida, Rachel Platten, Phillip Phillips and more.

Prince Harry’s closing remarks were very moving (“Never stop fighting and do everything you can to lift up everyone around you”) and I am very glad that my job was able to make some of the action at the games happen. All the stories were so inspiring and I can’t wait to see what Toronto brings next year!

In no particular order, things I’m loving this week:

Flytographer: Why look like the ultimate tourist with a selfie stick when you could pay a professional photographer to document your trip? Flytographer hooks you up with photographers in 130 destinations around the world. This is how it works: you select your destination, choose your photographer, submit an inquiry, finalize details with the Shoot Concierge, capture memories and receive your photos in 5 business days! Recently a few of us chipped in to pay for an hour shoot ($350) in Paris as a honeymoon present for our friends Rochelle and Adam and the pictures came our spectacular!

Celebration Bike Rental: Those of you who know me well know that I cannot ride a bicycle and that I have no business being up on one. That didn’t stop my job from forcing me to go on a bike tour a few weeks ago. And for someone who has been on a bike less than ten times in her life, I think riding six miles around Celebration is an accomplishment that should be celebrated for years to come.

Putting my bad attitude aside, I can see the appeal as to why you would do it. Celebration, Florida has a lot more to offer past Main Street’s shops and eateries. The trails and boardwalks that we traveled on were gorgeous and provided shade from the scorching sun. I saw two tiny alligators hanging out by the edge of a pond, learned fun facts about the town and only fell once (and took down a shrub with me). A two-hour rental costs $15 and if you’re looking for a specialty bike, like a tandem, the rental goes up to $30 for the same amount of time.

Adjectives MarketThe past year and a half has been pretty amazing for Winter Garden, Florida. Ever since the opening of Plant Street Market and the Crooked Can Brewing Company more people and businesses have been discovering the thriving area. We are moving up in the world, my friends! Adjectives Market made the leap from Altamonte Springs and Winter Park a few months ago and opened right on Plant St., making me a very happy girl. Adjectives features the area’s very best vintage and antique sellers making for an exciting shopping experience that’s different each time you visit.

It’s been a wonderful week so far and I look forward to celebrating with my family on Sunday! Any interesting plans for the weekend?

xx
