21 Day Fix: The beginning of the end

I’ve never been overweight; the scales have never tipped over 150 for me and at 145 pounds I am at a considerably healthy weight for my tall-ish figure.

But I’ve never been comfortable with my body—my stomach region, to be specific.

When the South Beach Diet hit the shelves back in 2003, I was in middle school, already conscious of my little, pudgy stomach and had mastered the art of sucking it in for pictures.

Already a professional.

I secretly compared my stomach to my two petite-figured best friends and to my cousin Vivi, and attributed my chubby belly to growing up. I was bound to grow into my body at some point, right? I was 12. I didn’t need to worry about the latest diet craze.

Since then, while the rest of the world has been caught up with Zumba (hi mom), juicing, the Paleo diet and CrossFit, I’ve slowly been gnawing at sweets left behind in the office kitchen and going on the occasional run.

My weight fluctuated a lot leading up to my wedding because of stress and I walked down the aisle at 138 pounds. But since the honeymoon I’ve gained it all back.

A group of girls from my church have been talking about the Beachbody’s 21 Day Fix and how they plan on using the program to lose weight and/or regain their pre-pregnancy glory.

Looking to shed my food baby weight and to not look like a baby beluga by the time summer rolls around, I decided to join them (gasp!).

My favorite part of these 30-minute workouts is that instead of having to stick to some insane diet, I instead have to practice portion control and how much I eat will depend on my calorie goal. I will not be doing the Shakeology meal replacement component because a) it is pricy and b) shakes make me throw up (TMI?) so I decided to save myself the money.

I hope you enjoy my spiral into madness and I apologize in advance if my blog posts: a) become too boring for you or b) kill you because you’ll be laughing so hard at my workouts that your insides will explode. Stay tuned, amigos.

Have you done the 21 Day Fix? How did it go for you?

xx
